Program of the Third International Stefan Turchak Competition of Conductors

 

І TOUR (22 persons)

November 27-28, 2017
The work of the Competitors is provided by the National Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
Each competition takes 20 minutes and consists of rehearsal work with the orchestra and subsequent performance.

Required work:

  • C. Weber – Overture to the “Der Freischütz” Opera.

Jury choice:

  • W. Mozart – Overture to the “Die Zauberflöte” Opera;
  • L. Beethoven – Overture “Egmont”;
  • G. Verdi – Overture to “La forza del destino” Opera.

 

ІІ TOUR (12 persons)

November 29, 2017
The work of the Competitors is provided by the National Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
Each competition takes 30 minutes and consists of rehearsal work with the orchestra and subsequent performance.

Required work:

  • Stravinsky – “The Firebird” Ballet 1919 edition (p. 1, 3, 5, 7).

Jury choice:

  • L. Beethoven – Symphony № 5 (p. 1, 2);
  • J. Brahms – Symphony № 4 (p. 2, 4);
  • A. Dvořák – Symphony № 9 (p. 1, 3);
  • P. Tchaikovsky – Symphony № 6 (p. 1, 4);
  • M. Skoryk – ”Carpathian Concert”.

 

ІІІ TOUR (5 persons)

November 30, 2017
The work of the Competitors is provided by the National Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
Each competition takes 30 minutes and consists of rehearsal work with the orchestra and subsequent performance.

Required work:

  • Ie. Stankovych – «Symphonietta».

Choice of the Competitor (the part is determined by the Jury):

  • B. Lyatoshynsky – Symphony № 3 (the 2nd edition);
  • D. Shostakovich – Symphony № 5;
  • S. Rachmaninov – Symphony № 3.

Choice of the finalist (the part is determined by the Jury):

  • A. Dvořák – Concerto for cello and orchestra;
  • J. Sibelius – Concerto for violin and orchestra;
  • F. Liszt – Concerto №1 for piano and orchestra.
